2009 Citizens Police Academy &
Volunteer Patrol |
The Citizen Volunteer Patrol is a
new program starting at the
Pemberville Police Department, in
which citizens over the age of 18
can become part of the police
department and assist the community
at the same time. Volunteers will
help the police department during
festivals and parades or as needed
by police Chief Richard Bingham.
Volunteers do not have to be
Pemberville residents, but all
volunteers are subject to background
checks. Additionally, those who wish
to become a member of the new
Pemberville Police Citizens
Volunteer Patrol will be required to
attend the Citizens Police Academy.
You do not have to become a member
of the volunteer patrol to attend
the academy.
The 2009 Citizens Police Academy
starts the first week of April.
Citizens will learn about police
firearms, investigations, radar,
laser, drug interdiction and
homeland security, plus numerous
other areas of law enforcement.
Classes involve hands-on learning
and those who attend will learn how
to use some of the tools police use.
Application are available due by
