Board of Trustees Meeting

June 17, 2025

 

The meeting was called to order by President John Selzer at 4:30 pm.

Roll Call:  Members present were Mary Jo Bish, Ron Eckel, Steve Gross, Sharon Nigh, David St. Louis, John Selzer and Amber Stark. 

Also present were Julie Getz, (Fiscal Officer), Ariel Jacobs (Director), and Laura King (Secretary).

Secretary's Minutes:    A correction was suggested to the minutes.  Dave made and Ron seconded a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. All ayes recorded. 

Fiscal Officer's Statements:  The monthly allocations were Gross $38,023.47 minus Woodlink 1,515.36 for a Net of $36,508.11.  Julie reported that the library is still overspending.  The Fund Summary and UAN report are the reports to look at for clarity of the financial situation. Star Ohio stills looks good on earnings. Luckey’s natural gas usage was higher than normal.  The gas company will be contacted.  Ron made and Steve seconded a motion to approve the Fiscal Officer’s statements. Dave made and Amber seconded a motion to transfer $1,10.00 from Other-Other to Auditing Services.  Amber made and Ron seconded a motion to accept memorials and donations for Joyce A. Ford Brinker memorial from Eastwood Alumni Association $84.41, Adult Programming 421.00, and General $8.58. All ayes recorded.

Director's Report

                HB96:    Information on provisions and updates was given.

                OPLIN Website:  Ariel is in the process of checking website information and changes.  We will be able to make changes for two weeks after June 16, 2025.

                Hoopla:  There was some fraudulent activity on this site which caused the library to be overcharged.  A refund will be made.   The problem has been remedied.

                Eagle Scout Project:  Conner’s project has been approved and now the library can move forward with publicity and the use of the flag boxes.

                Mileage:  The new mileage policy has resulted in a much lower expenditure than previously experienced. Sharon made and Ron seconded to approve the Director’s report.  All ayes recorded.

Old Business

                EPA:  There is no report yet on the water testing conducted last month at the three facilities. The radon testing at Luckey and Stony Ridge showed levels above the EPA action level.  It was discussed   that fans could be used to improve the circulation of air.  It was also discussed that several tests could be done over time to see how, why and when the levels fluctuate.  Ariel will look into this.  Steve made and Ron seconded a motion to hold any further testing for the moment.  All ayes recorded.

 

New Business

                Wood Link Budget Breakfast:  Ariel and John attended.

                Ohio Plan Insurance Renewal:  The cost this year will be $5,265.  Steve made and David seconded a motion to pay the Ohio Plan premium.

Announcements

                Wood County Library Crawl will be June 1- August 30, 2025.

                Several Board members and volunteers will clean up the flower beds.

Reminders

                Pemberville Free Fair will be held August 20-23, 2025. The library will have a booth.
